Choosing What Costs

Faith, for Moses, is his choice to align his life with God's people. It's not just belief—it is re-evaluation. It is looking at everything the world calls success… and choosing differently.
Choosing What Costs

Hebrews 11:24–25
By faith Moses… refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin.

Moses had access to everything.

Power.
Privilege.
Position.

Raised in Pharaoh’s household, he stood at the center of one of the most powerful empires in the world. He could have stayed. He could have lived comfortably, influentially, securely.

Instead, he walks away.

He refuses the identity that would elevate him—and chooses one that will cost him.

He aligns himself with a people who are enslaved.

Why?

Because he sees something others do not.

He recognizes that what Egypt offers is temporary. Fleeting. Passing. And he weighs it against something unseen—something greater.

Hebrews says he considered “the reproach” of God’s purposes greater wealth than Egypt’s treasures.

That is a staggering redefinition of value.

Faith, for Moses, is not just belief—it is re-evaluation.

It is looking at everything the world calls success… and choosing differently.

This choice does not lead to ease. It leads to exile, struggle, resistance, and long years in the wilderness.

But it also leads to alignment with God.

And that is what Moses chooses.

Reflection:
What might God be asking you to walk away from in order to remain aligned with Him?

Prayer:
Father, open my eyes to see where my life might be wrongfully aligned. Grant me the strength and wisdom to walk away from all distractions the world has to offer and align my life with You and You alone. In Jesus' name, amen!
