The Fragrance That Remains

One of the greatest evidences of genuine anointing—not volume, platform, or recognition, but the quiet fragrance of Christ flowing from a surrendered life.
The Fragrance That Remains

So, we've read about...
- Beauty Bowed Low
- The Fragrance of Cleansing

But that's not all...

“But the anointing that you received from him abides in you…” (1 John 2:27)

The holy anointing oil in Exodus was never meant to be treated as ordinary.

It was sacred.

Set apart.

Consecrated unto the Lord.

The oil marked priests, kings, and vessels as belonging to God and being appointed for His purposes. Once anointed, they were no longer considered common. They had been touched by something holy.

What a breathtaking picture of the believer in Christ.

Through Jesus—the true Anointed One—we too have been set apart unto God.

"And it is God who... has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee..." (2 Corinthians 1:21–22)

The fragrance of the anointing was meant to linger.

Wherever the priest went, the scent remained upon him. It marked him. Those near him could detect it. The fragrance testified that he had been in the presence of something holy.

The same should be true of us.

Not through outward performance or spiritual appearance, but through lives transformed by the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit.

When we have truly been with Jesus, something remains.

Our words become gentler.
Our hearts become softer.
Our worship becomes deeper.
Our lives begin carrying the fragrance of Christ.

“For we are the aroma of Christ to God…” (2 Corinthians 2:15)

Perhaps this is one of the greatest evidences of genuine anointing—not volume, platform, or recognition, but the quiet fragrance of Christ flowing from a surrendered life.

Cassia bowed low.

The oil consecrated.

The fragrance remained.

May our lives carry the evidence of His presence long after the moment of worship has passed.

Prayer:
Lord, let my life carry the fragrance of Christ. May others sense Your presence through my words, my attitudes, and my love. I choose to remain in You so that what You place within me remains fresh and holy. Amen.
