You Look Like Your Father

This is Part Four of a Seven-Part series on 1 Peter 1:13-19. Follow along closely – remember who you are, and Whose you are!

📖
"But as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, 'You shall be holy, for I am holy.'" (1 Peter 1:15-16)

Holiness can sound like a cold word. Distant. Unattainable. Like something reserved for perfect people – not me.

But Peter frames it as something much greater than that. It's relational. You bear His name. You carry His likeness. Holiness is living in a way that looks like your Father.

The Greek word for conduct here — anastrophē — refers to your whole way of moving through life. Not just Sunday behavior. How you treat people when you're tired. What you say when no one's watching. Where your mind goes when the room grows quiet.

That's a wide reach. But it's not meant to crush us. Holiness is a call to believers to live in a way that reflects the Lord's divine purity and separation from sin. It's an invitation to grow into who we already are in Christ.

Father, holiness feels big, and I feel small. But You're not asking me to perform — You're asking me to grow into Your image as a son or daughter. Shape my conduct, my habits, my quiet moments. Help me look like You. Amen.
