Without Blemish or Spot
This is Part Six of a Seven-Part series on 1 Peter 1:13-19. Follow along closely – remember who you are, and Whose you are!
One word alone carries the whole weight of this verse. Precious.
Not common. Not ordinary. The blood of Christ wasn't just the means of rescue — it was the most costly thing heaven had to offer. And Peter reaches back into Israel's story to help us feel it.
The Passover lamb wasn't chosen randomly. It was examined. Scrutinized. Found completely without flaw or defect before it was ever considered to be acceptable for sacrifice.
Jesus didn't just die willingly. He died qualifiedly. He was the only one who could pay the price.
Every lamb ever offered on every altar was pointing forward to this moment — to Him, to the Messiah. The system of sacrifice wasn't the point. It was always a signpost. And when Jesus came, the signpost finally gave way to the reality it had been announcing for centuries, since the beginning of time.
You were ransomed by that. By Him. By blood that was precious because the One who shed it was flawless.
Without blemish or spot.
Don't let that go by too fast today. Take some time. Let it sink in. Your ransom has been paid in full.
Jesus, I don't fully grasp what You gave. But I want to. Open my eyes and my heart. Let the weight of "precious" settle in me today — and let it change how I live every day.
