Set Apart and Set Free
And finally, Part Seven, the final part of our series on 1 Peter 1:13-19. Series: Part 1 . Part 2 . Part 3 . Part 4 . Part 5 . Part 6.
Six days. One passage. And really, one sweeping truth underneath it all.
You are not who you used to be.
Peter has walked us through what that means — a mind girded and ready, a hope anchored fully on grace, an old life that no longer has a claim, a holiness that looks like your Father, a ransom that cost more than anything this world can afford, and Jesus, the Lamb who was the only one qualified to pay the price.
That's not a list of demands. It's a description of what's already true.
You've been called. You've been bought. You've been set apart — not for a performance, but for a Person. And the life Peter describes in 1 Peter 1:13-19 isn't something you manufacture. It grows out of knowing the One who paid the incomprehensible price for you.
So gird up. Hope fully. Don't go back. Look like your Father. Live like someone who's been ransomed and set free.
Because you have been. Amen!
Prayer
Lord, let this week settle deeper than my head. Let it reach my heart and my mind, the places where I still live as if I'm still held captive. You've done everything. I just want to live as one who is wholly Yours. Amen.
