Hope Fully

Hope isn't simply wishful thinking. It's believing with your whole heart, having confidence in a promise being fully yours.
Hope Fully

This is Part Two of a Seven-Part series on 1 Peter 1:13-19. Follow along closely – remember who you are, and Whose you are!

📖
"...set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ." (1 Peter 1:13b)

Read the passage carefully.

One word stops me cold right here. Fully.

Not mostly. Not when life is going well. Not with one eye on grace and the other on how you fall short. Peter says fully — like the ship with a port of call, stopped drifting, revved up its motors, and pressed on until it reached its final destination.

We're wired to measure and manage. To keep a quiet running tally of how we're doing, whether we're enough, whether we've earned the right to feel secure. But that tally was never meant to be our anchor.

Grace is.

Peter writes it in the future tense — "will be brought to you." It arrives "at the revelation of Jesus Christ". Hope isn't simply wishful thinking. It's believing with your whole heart, having confidence in a promise being fully yours.

Don't hold back, hold on!

Just point yourself in the right direction, stop drifting, and hold on to hope ... fully!

Prayer

Father, I confess I only partly hope sometimes. I hedge. I hold back. I drift. Help me always remember it means to set my hope fully on Your grace — on You! Not on my record, not on my effort, and not even hindered by my failures. You are my hope. That's enough. Amen.
