Holy Tuesday

Jesus did not speak in vague shadows. He told the people plainly. The cross was not unfolding around Him. He was walking toward it. Anointed to give His life. Sent by the Father. Willing.
Holy Tuesday

Perhaps Holy Tuesday is not as widely observed as other days of Holy Week. But that does not make it insignificant. If anything, this is the day where Jesus’ words become sharper… clearer… and impossible to ignore.

He does not withdraw. He teaches. He confronts. He reveals.

As He continues in the temple, Jesus speaks in parables—but these are not gentle stories meant only to comfort.

They are exposing. They are revealing. They are warning.

He tells of a vineyard. A master who carefully prepares it… and sends servants to gather its fruit. But the tenants refuse. They beat the servants. They kill them. And when the master's son is sent—they kill him too. (See Matthew 21:33–44)

This is not just a story. It is a mirror. The servants—sent and rejected—echo the prophets.

And the Son?

Standing before them. Speaking. Warning. Inviting. And still—they do not change.

“When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they perceived that he was speaking about them.” (Matthew 21:45)

They understood. Yet instead of repentance… their hearts hardened. They began to look for a way to arrest Him.

And here is what makes this moment so weighty—Jesus is not misunderstood.

He is recognized… and rejected.

He speaks of the stone that the builders rejected–the stone that "has become the Cornerstone." What they refuse… what they cast aside… becomes the foundation of everything.

And still—Jesus continues.

He speaks of the kingdom of God. Of judgment. Of readiness. Of what is to come. There is no hesitation in Him. No uncertainty. No retreat.

Because Jesus knows.

“You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified.” (Matthew 26:2)

He is not speaking in vague shadows. He tells the people plainly.

The cross is not unfolding around Him. He is walking toward it.

🌿 What This Day Reveals

Jesus is not simply a teacher. He is not cautious with His words. He is not trying to preserve His life.

He speaks with authority because He knows who He is.

The Son.
The heir.
The cornerstone.

Anointed to give His life. Sent by the Father. Willing.

🌿 Reflection

There is a sobering truth in this day.

It is possible to hear... to understand… and still resist.

They perceived He was speaking about them. And they chose not to yield. And the question quietly turns toward us—

What do we do with what we recognize and know to be true?

🙏 Prayer

Lord, keep my heart soft, tender, and receptive when You speak. When You expose what is true—when You reveal what I would rather not see—do not let me turn away. Give me a heart that responds… not resists. A heart that yields… not hardens. Because, just as on Holy Tuesday, You are not only speaking— You are inviting. Amen.
